The Author Becomes the Pilot!
Fellow pilot Andy Abreu filmed Sarah making her last solo landing of the day December 16.Andy was scheduled to fly the Aeronca Champ next and went out to shoot some pictures of the airplane landing.
Flying the plane at that moment was student pilot Sarah Rickman and the landing was her 11th solo landing. The clip doesn’t show her actual touch down, but follows her approach to a couple of feet off the ground. Andy offered to put it on YouTube for her to see.

Sarah’s first solo was Friday, November 13. She flies at Red Stewart Airfield, a grass strip in Waynesville Ohio on SR 42.
In the photo at right, she proudly displays her shirttail that instructor Emerson Stewart III cut off after her first solo.
The photo below shows her with Emerson Stewart III and the 1946 Aeronca Champ that she flys. Sarah is working on her Sport Pilot License.
